Hawk Nelson Concert

Last night was the Hawk Nelson Concert at church.

We get to church about 4:30 and I find out that we can upgrade our tickets for $10, get a "Green T-shirt" and are allowed in for the meet and greet! BTW, that scored me the "I am THE mom!" rights for the night. ;-) In the mean time, we hook up with Kris and Amber, who because they were crew members could go in early, and Amber saved us seats, so when we finally got inside the sanctuary, we had seats third row in from the front. Many of the normal seats had been moved out to make way for the crowd that likes to stand upfront. Unfortunately only crew/workers were allowed in the balcony, which in my opinion would have been the BEST place to see the show. After we got in and settled, we didn't see Kayla or Mikaija till the show was over! LOL

The Meet and Greet was with Jason and Daniel. They talked a bit about what was happening, played samples of a few songs from their new album coming out April 1st, via an Ipod hooked up to the system. Jason's testimony about a song he wrote regarding his grandmother's death and questioning his faith, hit Kayla right where she is in her walk, and I'm so thankful he shared that with the crowd.

Opening band was Capital Lights, and boy they were GOOD! I see them as an up and coming Christian Band. It was really cool to watch these rockers do a Hannah Montana tribute by playing "Best of Both Worlds." Of course, the crowd went WILD!

Next up was Run, Kid, Run! and they were also good!

And then we have Hawk Nelson, and they blew the doors off the building! Jason, I have to say is not only very cute, but he is a VERY nice guy. One of my favorite numbers was "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!" and they dedicated it to all the parents in the crowd. LOL HN is a Compassion band, and of course, they talked about Compassion and what they do. Tom caught me tearing up, knowing I was thinking about Evie at that moment, and gave me a hug. (Evie was a dear online friend that recently lost her earthly battle with cancer, but has her victory with the Lord, and I have NO doubt she is helping to lead worship in Heaven. She was an employee of Compassion during her struggle.)

While I stood in the HN line for signitures, Mikaija got the other two bands to sign her shirt and poster, and then we waited for a bit to finally get HN to sign it. We waited till they were done with the line, and then took a pic with Jason and Daniel.

The concert was fun, and energizing. It was also wonderful to see people we hadn't seen in awhile.
